Seasons_of_GreetingsIf you joined us this summer for the 9th annual alumni weekend, you know what a dizzyingly happy time it was.  A multitude of alumni returned to perform former W’vane music director Tom Barthel’s Mambo Italiano:  A Roman Holiday, and several made the weekend a family vacation.  If you weren’t there, I hope the photos herein will inspire you to join us sometime soon.  Geoff Tarson attended for the first time and writes about the experience.

Also in this issue, Mary Whithed catches up with music director Charlie Alterman between performances of Next to Normal at Broadway’s Booth Theatre.

I’ve handed the And The Beat Goes On baton to the trusted care of my dear friend “Sammy Dazzle” in order to assume the presidency of the alumni association.  I am honored to lead this organization that has become, since its beginning  in 2000, the source of many of my dearest friendships.

We bid a fond farewell to Scott Hunt, as he steps down from his VP post and the alumni board.  Scott was responsible for much of the largesse the alumni association enjoyed at its Lincoln Center party in 2001 and has worked behind the scenes ever since to organize most of our alumni events.

We will also miss departing directors Scott McGowan and Justin Joseffy as we welcome to the board Aimee Stopper, Nanette DeWester, Jason Simon, and applaud the return of Cindy Hathaway Mathieson.

Kathleen Suss is our new Vice President and directors Jeff Zadroga and Jennifer Neuland Gerlach continue as Treasurer and Weathervane Liaison, along with Timothy Breese Miller, Rick Farrar, Joanna Naumes Hoch and Mary Whithed, who now serves as Past-President.

On behalf of the lot of us, I am pleased to announce you will find a special offer in our 2009 holiday appeal.  W’vane co-founder Gibbs Murray has created the original drawing above, available as a limited edition color print, your gift for a donation of $145 or more.  The edition is limited to 45 (Do you see a theme developing?), so you will want to order quickly—and online at wvalum.org—as soon as you receive the mailing.  Happy holidays!  —Rhonda Picou
